Enter the student’s name and class below. Everything happens on this device—nothing is sent to us, and nothing is stored.
Hold your phone sideways in full screen. Tap Exit full screen to return.
How the code is used
- 1
The student makes a code
Type the name and class, then press Generate. Print the code, or keep it on screen at full brightness.
- 2
The photographer captures it
Just before the portrait, the photographer takes one frame of the code. That frame marks where the student’s pictures begin.
- 3
The photos are named automatically
Back at the studio, our renaming tool reads the code and writes the name onto the portrait files that follow it.
Getting a code that reads cleanly
- Spell the name the way the school roster spells it, so the photos match the school’s records.
- On a phone, turn brightness up and turn auto-rotate off before you hand it over.
- Keep the whole white border visible—a code cropped at the edge will not read.
- Avoid glare. Tilt the screen slightly away from overhead lights or a window.
- Printed codes read best of all. Plain white paper, no lamination.
Common questions
Is my name sent anywhere?
No. The code is created by your own browser. The name is never transmitted to us or saved on this site, and it exists only inside the code you generate.
Why is there a 120-character limit?
The name travels with the photo as part of its filename, and our renaming tool keeps the first 120 characters. Staying under the limit guarantees the class is not cut off the end.
What if the student has no class number?
Leave the class field empty. The code will hold just the name.
Can one code cover several students?
No. Each student needs their own code, because the code marks the start of that student’s photographs.
Photographers: can I keep a whole school’s codes on my phone?
Yes. The picture day roster saves named student lists on your device and shows each student’s code full screen, even with no signal. Open it once with signal before you go.
What if the code will not scan on picture day?
The photographer can still photograph the student normally and record the name by hand. The code saves time; it is not the only way.
