The best preparation is simple: follow the school’s instructions, choose comfortable clothing, arrive on time, and help the student approach the portrait without pressure.
Our Complete Wireless Mobile Photography Studio comes to you, featuring the latest in photographic technology, right at your school’s doorstep.
Picture-day checklist for families
Choose comfortable clothing
Solid colors usually photograph well. Avoid distracting text, neon colors, very busy patterns, and heavily wrinkled clothing.
Keep grooming familiar
Use a hairstyle the student knows. A comb, wipes, or blotting paper can help with a quick final check.
Rest and eat normally
A rested student who has eaten is more likely to feel patient and comfortable during the school schedule.
Reduce the pressure
Remind children that the photographer will guide them. A natural expression matters more than forcing a particular smile.
What students should bring or remember
- Glasses they normally wear; the photographer can help manage positioning and glare.
- A comb or small touch-up kit if they will need one before their portrait.
- Any order form, identifier, or instructions the school asked them to bring.
- A relaxed attitude—the photographer will provide simple posing and expression guidance.
Picture-day checklist for teachers and school staff
- Confirm the class schedule, photography room, student flow, and day-of contacts before setup.
- Allow practical transition time for younger grades and students who need assistance.
- Keep order forms or student identifiers organized according to the agreed workflow.
- Tell the photography lead about absences, class changes, and accessibility needs.
- Check that students completed required school instructions before leaving the classroom.
- Record students who need a make-up opportunity according to the school plan.
Ordering before and after picture day
Families in eligible programs can prepay online before picture day at discounted school pricing. For prepaid paper orders, our team chooses the photograph. For online orders, the parent chooses the photograph; our team does not make that selection for them.
Online proof galleries can remain available for up to five years, and parents can continue ordering and choosing photographs at regular proofing prices. Parents who complete their photo selection during the three-day school-delivery window shown in the gallery can receive free delivery with the school’s group order. After that window closes, the parent can still choose the photograph, but the order is sent to the family’s home instead and home-delivery charges apply.
Before submitting an order, verify the student, school, package, pose, background, add-ons, and delivery information.
If a student is absent or needs a retake
First check whether the school has announced a make-up date. Families may also contact The School Photo Company about an eligible absentee or retake appointment at the Rego Park studio. Confirm availability and the applicable school program before visiting.
Common picture-day questions
What colors look best?
Solid or lightly patterned colors that complement the student usually work well. The student should still look and feel like themselves.
Should students wear glasses?
Students who normally wear glasses can keep them on. The photographer can help manage positioning and glare.
How long does delivery take?
Package delivery averages about two weeks, although timing can vary by program, order, and school delivery schedule.
Who should I contact about an order problem?
Visit Customer Support and provide the order number, student name, school, and a clear description of the issue.
